Charlotte Wickers
Psychodynamic Psychotherapist MBACP (Accred)
Welcome…
I am an experienced psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist, and I offer both short-term counselling and longer term psychotherapy, depending on your needs.
I work with all aspects of anxiety and/or depression. These feelings can be linked to experiences in your past, for example, loss, family and/or relationship breakdown, medical issues, adverse childhood experiences, identity issues, struggles in the workplace or abuse. Difficult experiences can (unconsciously) result in painful coping mechanisms which we develop at the time in order to survive.
I am also a WPF-trained supervisor and can offer supervision to any psychodynamically-trained therapists.
Working with me…
I am trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This means that I will think with you about the current feelings you are struggling with now, and help you process what could unconsciously be underlying these feelings. I will be thinking with you about your current relationships, but also taking into account important relationships in your past, and how these may be influencing your present feelings and behaviour.
My working relationship with you is an important part of the work. I believe our emotional and mental health is deeply affected by how healthy our connections and bonds are with the closer people in our lives, whether partner, family, work colleagues or friends. I aim to build a compassionate, safe, non-judgemental relationship with you which you can begin to internalise. Through regular, in-depth conversations, always with a curious mind, I believe therapy can result in lasting development and change.
I have a special interest in perinatal work and worked for several years as a Women’s Health Counsellor in the NHS. I also worked for ten years as a University Counsellor.
Sessions cost from £80-£100. Some reduced fee sessions are available.
